Dear Friend,

Ever since the later part of the 19th century, China has been importing books from advanced Western nations. Unfortunately after 1949, for a long period of time, domestic and international adversities often interrupted the steady flow of this process. Today university and research libraries in China still lack many quality books. We strongly believe that, by strengthening library collections of universities and research institutes in China, we will help modernization of China, which in turn will promote peace and prosperity of the world.

We have established a Books-for-China Fund to collect books from private collections of scholars, retired professors, libraries, and publishing houses, and send the books to university libraries in China. We accept all books at college or above levels and professional journals of high quality, regardless of their subjects, languages, and dates of publication.

The Chinese Ministry of Education has approved our book donation project. We have already sent three containers of books, totaling about 50,000 volumes, to China since 2005. Several mass media, including the World Weekly, the World Journal, Duowei Times, and the New China News Agency, have publicized this project.

As the project is becoming better known in China, more universities are asking us for books. We must continue and expand our collecting effort.

If you have books and journals to donate, and you live closer to the East Coast, please contact John T. Ma (Tel. 718-886-4687, E-mail: johntajenma@att.net) and then send the books to
